Welcome to the Lane Library!
The Lane Library is a warm and welcoming place for students, teachers, and parents. It is the goal of the library program to develop and encourage a love of reading for all students and assist them in becoming critical thinkers who are effective and responsible users of information.
All students have regular library lessons with their classes. Students may also visit the library during small group hours (two to four students), outside their library time, with their teacher’s permission.
Students, for the most part, will be allowed to check out at least every time they come to the library. The number of check-outs at a time is based on grade level and is generally as follows:
- Kindergarten - 1 checkout
- First grade - 2 checkouts
- Second grade - 3 checkouts
- Third grade - 4 checkouts
- Fourth grade - 5 checkouts
- Fifth grade - 6 checkouts
- Sixth grade - 7 checkouts
Students are not fined for overdue books! We encourage students to return their books in order to check out new ones. Overdue notices are emailed once per quarter, with more frequent emails during the fourth quarter. If a student has a number of overdue books, a paper notice may be distributed to help remind the student to bring in books.
Please note that families are generally expected to pay the replacement cost for books that are lost or returned damaged.
